This thesis is entitled “Cultural Meanings of Hengaddu hewangnga in Sabu Society (A Semiotic Analysis)” The aims of this study are: 1). As an additional source of reference for further research on other sabu cultural products in an effort yo find out how they perceive and interpret their world. 2). To contribute the significance of semiotics as a branch of science related to the study of signs, especially the sign of hengaddu hewangnga as an identity marker of sabu society. 3). To reveal the uniqueness and distinctiveness of the hengaddu hewangnga culture as a symbol of unity, harmony, love, peace, solidarity, affection. in the province of east nusa tenggara and therefore must be preserved in the face of change. The concept used in this research is nonverbal communication and symbolic interaction. This research used is Symbolic Interaction Theory. This type of research is qualitative and uses a phenomenological study method. Hengaddu hewangnga is a Cultural product and practice insited from the ancestors of Sabunese Society. Hengaddu hewangnga different that appears in the form of nonverbal symbol of communication serves many different cultural meanings. The researches of such differenties cultural meanings depend on the contexts of situation and socio cultural contexts of Sabunese Society. Along with it is context the prominent cultural meanings of Hengaddu hewangnga in Sabunese Society are as follows: Unity, Harmony, Love, Friendship, Peace, Solidarity, Affection.
