The objective of the research is to analyze what types of illocutionary act of the main character are found in The Social Network movie. The researcher used a descriptive Qualitative Research. The data used is script of The Social Network movie (2010).The analysis of the classification of illocutionary speech acts proposed by Searle (1977) which consists of, representative, directive commissive, expressive and declaration. This study analyzed the main character’s utterances. Mark Zuckerberg is the main character in The Social Network movie. The result of the study showed that there are 235 utterances containing the illocutionary acts. The writer found 93 utterances for representative speech act with the speech act verbs used are: state, boast, assert, guess, assume, assure, tell, deny, conclude, believe, inform, complain, agree, describe, predict, remind, and deceive. Then followed by directive speech act with 48 utterances and the speech act verbs used are: question, suggest, ask, invite, request, order, and advice. Commissive speech act used in 16 utterances with the common verbs used like: reject, commit, promise, and offer. Meanwhile expressive speech act used in 74 utterances with speech act verbs used are: praise, dislike, anger, insult, confuse, disbelief, accuse, apologize, insinuate, uncared, regret, fear, surprise, annoyance, thank, greet, blame, congratulate, pardon, amaze, pleasure, joy, embarrassed, doubt, and disappoint. The last is declarative speech act with only 4 utterances found. The common speech act verbs used are: curse, appoint, and announce. Keywords: Speech Act, Illocutionary, movie.
