The research problems are (1) What are the meaning of Po Gege utterances in Bere Tere Oka Pale ceremony in Wogo Society Golewa District Ngada Regency? (2) What are the functions of Po Gege utterances in Bere Tere Oka Pale ceremony in Wogo Society Golewa District Ngada Regency? (3) What are the types of speech acts found in Po Gege utterances of Bere Tere Oka Pale ceremony in Wogo Society Golewa District Ngada Regency? The research objectives are (1) To describe the meaning of Po Gege utterances on Bere Tere Oka Pale ceremony in Wogo Society Golewa District Ngada Regency (2) To explain the functions of Po Gege utterances on Bere Tere Oka Pale ceremony in Wogo Society Golewa District Ngada Regency (3) To clasify the types of speech acts found in Po Gege utterances on Bere Tere Oka Pale ceremony in Wogo Society Golewa District Ngada Regency. The type of this research was descriptive qualitative research. The data was collected through interviews, observations, and note-taking from three sources (mosalaki) in Wogo village. The results showed that (1) The meaning contained in Po Gege utterances is the meaning of prohibition and suggestion, and both are presented in literal and non-literal (symbolic) language. (2) The function of Po Gege utterances consists of two, namely (a) functions of language and (b) functions in general. The function of Po Gege utterances in terms of language is a directive function. The function of Po Gege utterance in general are social and economic. (3) The types of speech acts found in Po Gege utterance was the illocutionary act-directive category.
