This thesis is entitled: The Ability of Tenth Grade Students of SMA Negeri 2 Nekamese, Kupang Regency in Academic Year 2022/2023 In Using Conditional Sentences. The problem of this study are : firstly, what extent are tenth grade students of SMA N 2 Nekamese, Kupang regency in academic year 2022/2023 able to use conditional sentence? Secondly, what is the level of ability of the students? Thirdly, what are problems encountered by tenth grade students of SMA N 2 Nekamese, Kupang regency in academic year 2022/2023 in using conditional sentence? The aims of this study are: First, to know whether tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Nekamese, Kupang regency are able to use conditional sentence. Second, to describe the ability level of tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Nekamese, Kupang regency in using conditional sentence. Third, to identify problems encountered by tenth grade students of SMA N 2 Nekamese, Kupang regency in academic year 2022/2023 in using conditional sentence .In conducting this study the writer use descriptive quantitative method. There were 45 students as the population and 45 students were selected as the sample. This research was conducted in SMA Negeri 2 Nekamese, Kupang Regency in July 2022. The instrument was a test. The test was multiple choice test that consists of 50 items. The data were analyzed by using some formulas. The result shows that tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Nekamese Kupang regency in academic year 2022/2023 are able to use conditional sentence, because most of students got scores of 70-79 that is 30 students of 45 students, the mean of the students’ scores is 72 %. The level of students ability in using conditional sentences is categorized as good level with the precentage 67%.There are some problems encountered by students in using conditional sentences as follows : The students do not have good grammar, in this case in using tenses :(a) the students do not have good grammar, in this case in using tenses, (b) the students do not know about the formulation of passive voice, (c) the students are still confused about the formuala of conditional sentences especially type II and type III.
