ABSTRACT USING SERIAL PICTURES TO IMPROVE WRITING SKILLS OF THE THIRD GRADE STUDENTS OF SMPK MUDER TERESA IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2022/2023 Christiyanti Abel, Feliks Tans, A.M. Adisucipto, Penfui, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Email: mamaonell735@gmail.com Writing in English and of course, in other languages is one of the important components to measure students' ability in English subjects. Many learning strategies have been developed to improve students' writing skills, including the ability to write stories in English. This research attempts to use a serial pictures method to improve story writing skills of SMPK Muder Teresa Kupang students, especially their ability to determine story ideas, to improve their writing skills itself and their ability to identify English vocabulary. This research is a classroom action research. The study, who research subjects were of SMPK Muder Teresa, found that learning media using serial pictures can improve students' abilities to write stories, to formulate story ideas and to identify English vocabulary. The results of this study showed that out of 39 students after being given treatment through classroom action research in cycle I and cycle II, as many as 35.90% got good scores (70-79) and as many as 64.10% got very good scores (above 80). Therefore, teaching method using a serial picture as learning media needs to be continuously developed and used to improve students' ability in writing.
