The elliptical sentence is part of grammar that will you learn when you study English. Elliptical sentence is how we omit the repeated word(s) in sentences in order to make it simple and esier to undertand by others without changing the meaning. With this research, the writer wants to find to what extent the seventh-semester students of the English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University were able to use elliptical sentences and what problems they faced in using them. This research used a descriptive quantitative method and the data were collected through test and interview. The populations were 183 students and divided into four classes. Selected using random sampling the writer took nine students from each class, so the samples of the research were 36 students. From those students, the writer found that the extent to which the students were able to use elliptical sentences was good and showed that there were some problems that they have in using elliptical sentences, such as problems in using so, too, either, and neither and understanding and mastering elliptical sentences topic. These problems made students difficult to omit and use the correct connector of elliptical sentences in the sentence. In conclusion, even though they are senior students, they still have some difficulties in using elliptical sentences, and with the curriculum that did not perfect, the students have a problem learning elliptical sentences well.
