This thesis is entitled: An Analysis of Speech Act of Traditional Natoni in Welcoming Guests n Kie Sub District, South Central Timor Regency. The problems of this study are: first, what are types of speech acts of Natoni in welcoming guests performed by people in Kie Sub-District, South Central Timor regency? Second, what are kinds of speech acts of Natoni in welcoming guests performed by people in Kie Sub-District, South Central Timor regency? Third, what are the meanings of those speech acts of Natoni in welcoming guests performed by people in Kie Sub-District, South Central Timor regency? The aims of this study is to describe types and kinds of speech acts and meanings of Natoni in welcoming guests performed by people in Kie Sub-District, South Central Timor regency. In conducting this study, the researcher used qualitative descriptive method. The researcher used interview as the instruments of this study. The data were collected from the informants who were the native speakers of uab meto language. The result of the study shows that there are 3 types of speech acts locutonary, illocutionary and perlocutionary acts. The types of speech acts also consist of 3 kinds, Expressive, representative, and directive. The meanings found in Natoni are praising, stating, and requesting. Keywords: Speech act, Natoni
