An Analysis of Illocutionary Acts in Joko Widodo’s Speeches on the Commemoration of Indonesian Independence Day from 2017 to 2021.The research problem of this study is what kind of illocutionary acts in Joko Widodo’s speeches on the commemoration of Indonesian Independence Day from 2017 to 2021. This research is conducted to analyze the kind of illocutionary acts found in the texts of President Joko Widodo’s speeches on the commemoration of Indonesian Independence Day from 2017 to 2021 used Searle’s theory. In conducting this research, the writer used descriptive qualitative method. The primary data source of this study was Joko Widodo’s speeches on the commemoration of Indonesian Independence Day from 2017 to 2021 accessed from kompaspedia.com. The result shows that there are 12 data of representatives, 44 data of directives, 7 data of commisives, 7 data of declarations, 11 data of expressive in Joko Widodo’s speeches on the commemoration of Indonesian Independence Day from 2017 to 2021. President Joko Widodo tended to use the kind of illocutionary acts, particularly directives, in delivering his speeches on the commemoration of Indonesian Independence Day from 207 to 2021.
