This Thesis is entitled: Using Short Story to Develop Vocabulary of the Seventh Grade Students of Smp Negeri 11 Kupang in the School Year 2022/2023. The problem of this study is: can the use of short story develop Vocabulary of the seventh-grade students at SMPN 11 in the School Year 2022/2023? This study aims at knowing whether the use of short story can develop the Vocabulary of the seventh-grade students at SMPN 11 in the School Year 2022/2023. This study employed experimental method. In order to gain the data, the writer used pre-test and post-test. The population of this study was the seventh-grade students of SMP 11 Kota Kupang consist of 10 classes. Each class consisted of 32 students, and the total number of population was 320 students. There were 32 students selected from class VIID of the sample or 10% of 320 students as the population. All the data were analyzed statistically. The results shows that using short story can develop the Vocabulary of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 11 Kupang in the academic year 2022/2023.based on the post-test in experimental group that is 91 which is higher than post-test in controll group that 88. Besided that, the result of t-test is 3,74 higher than t-table 2,042 at the level of significance 5% with degree of fredoom at 30. It means that using Short story can develop the Vocabulary of the seventh-grade student of SMP Negeri 11 Kupang in the school year 2022/2023 Key Words: Develop, Vocabulary, Short Story.
