This thesis is entitled:’ A Study On The Ability In Writing Descriptive Text By The Third Semester Students Of English Study Program Of Nusa Cendana University In Academic Year 2022/2023. The problems of this study are (1.) What is the level of ability by the third semester students of the English study program of Nusa Cendana University in academic year? (2). What are the difficulties faced by the third semester students of English study program of Nusa Cendana University in academic year? Whereas the aims of the study are as follows: (1). To find out the level of ability by the third semester students of the English study program of Nusa Cendana University in academic year 2022/2023. (2). To find out the difficulties by the third students of English study program of Nusa Cendana University in academic year 2022/2023. This study used a qualitative method. The research was conducted was in University Nusa Cendana. The subject of this research was third semester students of English study program of Nusa Cendana University in academic year 2022/2023. There are 45 students and the writer chose 20 students for this research. The researcher uses writing test and interviews to collect the data. The researcher the writer used two techniques instrument and interviews. The writer asks the students to write descriptive text by chose one of the pictures former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono or President Joko Widodo) and describe him in 4 or more sentences. The result of data analysis shows that the students have grammatical errors and they are still confused in using the simple present tense from the test that has been done by students, the researcher used two method grammar and vocabulary. Then the research has clarified and concluded that some students were still incorrect in using simple present tense in writing descriptive text. Moreover, there were still many students and who are confused about what are verb an irregular verb. Key words: Writing, Descriptive text, andAbility.
