This writing deals with analyzing semiotics in Kwatek motives in Lembata East Nusa Tenggara. The purpose of this study is to find out the form, meaning, and function of Kwatek motives in Lembata. This study useda qualitative descriptive method with three techniques to collected the data by doing observation,interview, and documentation. The researcher took five motives contained in Kwatek from four weavers. In analyzing the result of the data, the researcher used theory from Peirce (1868) in Sebeok (2001) to analyze the forms of Kwatek motives, and used the concept of Triangle meaning by Peirce in Eco(1976) to analyze the meaning that contained in the motive of Kwatek, and used the theory of Muhajirin to analyze the function of kwatek motives.The data found that there are five symbol motives of Kwatek and their meaning. Thefirst motive is Hireten (Star) motive symbolizes a light that gives hope, the second is Tenar (Boat) motive symbolizing rescue and responsibility and the third is Mokungen (Stingray fish) motive symbolizing a source of life and a relationship between humans and each other, and the fourth is Puneken (Traditional Earrings) motive symbolized as unity the family or tribe and the fifth is Atadiken (People) motive symbolize a togetherness and gender equality. Motives contained in Kwatek have four functions for the Lembata People namely for the cultural life (as dowry, as traditional cloth,as the mayong), for social life (as saredame,asmayong) for Economic life (as the transaction, souvenir), and for Aesthetic value (impressive and satisfaction the wearer and weaver).
