The title of this research is “Facebook Slang Expressions Used by Teenager Participants at A Dance School Of Maluku Community in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia”. This study aims at determining kinds, meanings, functions, and reasons of slang words teenagers use on social media. This research used the descriptive qualitative method. This study used Facebook status of 6 teenagers in a dance school of Maluku and organized it into seven types based on the concept theory of Allan and Burridge (2006:63): flippant, imitative, fresh and creative, clipping, acronym, blending, and borrowing. This research found 27 English slang words namely, lol, gf, ootd, idk, cheesy, bae, friendzoned, ex-boyfriend, tryna, wanna, imma, gotta, yall, u, r, pic, urself, bout, dnt, kno, cause, da, bih, ex, f***ed up, boo and dude with 25 posts updated on Facebook status. The most frequent slang words type is “clipping.” Slang words have been translated by the researcher using an online dictionary for slang named urban dictionary. Examples slang words of clipping are ex means girlfriend with the function “to address someone”, and da means “the” with the function “to reveal anger”.
