This study is entitled: “The Forms and Meanings of Anthropomorphic Metaphor in Loli Dialect of Sumba Language”. The study was conducted to answer the problems: (1) What are the forms of anthropomorphic metaphor in Loli dialect? (2) What is the meaning of anthropomorphic metaphor in Loli dialect? The aims are to find out the forms of anthropomorphic metaphor in the Loli dialect of Sumba language and to describe the meaning of anthropomorphic metaphor in Loli dialect of Sumba language. In conducting this research, the writer used a descriptive qualitative method. The techniques of data collection were recording, elicitation, and documentation. The data were analyzed by identifying and describing them. The result shows that there were 22 expressions in the forms and meaning of anthropomorphic metaphors in Loli dialect of Sumba language. The results of this research might be beneficial to support the study of language belonging to society as members of a social group or an ethnic group, especially Sumba people, along with the function and significance of Sumba language.
