<note>The title if this research is an analysis of students’ grammatical errors in writing task by second grade students in Christian Amanatun senior high school. The aims of this research is to describe the types of error committed by the second grade students of Christian Amanatun Senior High School in writing task and to find out the total numbers and frequencies of each type of error. The data of this study gained in September 15, 2022. This study use method of descriptive analysis to gain those data and information needed regarding the relevant issue, while the analysis of the frequencies is carry out by using both methods, qualitative and quantitative method. In collecting data, the writer took writing task from 20 second grade students of Christian Amanatun senior high school as the samples. This task was to measure students’ ability in writing text especially in recount text and the errors in the text. The result of analysis showed that the students are able to write English recount text based on its generic structure but they made a total of 185 errors which is consists of 54 or 29% errors of omission, 8 or 5% errors of double marking (addition), 4 or 2% errors of regularization (addition), 11 or 5% errors of simple addition (addition), 5 or 3% errors of
regularization (misformation), 33 or 15% errors of archi-forms (misformation), 62 or 38% errors of alternating forms (misformation), and 8 or 4% errors of misordering. Based on the result, it can be concluded the seconf grade students of Christian Amanatun Senior High School are able to compose English recount text based on its generic structure but they have not mastered the English grammar system. So, when they were asked to compose a recount text task, there are so many difficult and incorrect results of grammar, structure, and vocabulary.</note>
