This study aims to identify the problems encountered by teachers and students in learning English by using online class during the pandemic and how to solve these problems. In this study there are two research problems such as what are the problems encountered by teachers and students of eighth grade of SMP Negeri 3 Kupang in Academic Year 2022/2023 in learning English by using online class during the covid-19 pandemic and how to solve this problems. The writer used library research and field research as the research prosedures. The research method used in this study was descriptive qualitative research method. In this study the writer only selected one class of elevent class of eighth grade students where each class consist of 30 students and all eighth grade English teachers as a data resource.The techniques used to collect the data are questionnaire and documentation. The writer used identify and describing techniques to analysis the data. The result of this study indicate that the inhibiting factors experienced by teachers and students during online learning are an unstable internet connection, do not have data package, not having a digital device in the form of a mobile phone or laptop and the last difficulty giving and receiving material during the teaching and learning process. Their solution to solving the problem is to find a place that is connected with a good internet connection, provision of data package or adequate facilities for students and teachers.
