This study examines the form, function and meaning of the use of Indonesian slang. The problems discussed in this study are the forms of Indonesian slang, the functions of Indonesian slang, and the meanings of Indonesian slang. The purpose of this study is to describe the form, function and meaning of the use of Indonesian slang. The theory used in this study is the pragmatic theory by Levinson in Tarigan (1986,33). This study uses a qualitative descriptive method because it does not involve numbers in addition to suppressing the depth of information so that it is valuable. The data source in this study were class X students of SMAN 6 Kota Kupang, using audio/visual recording techniques, which would then be transcribed into a manuscript to obtain conversational results using Indonesian slang. The results showed that the use of Indonesian slang by class x students of SMAN 6 Kupang had speech forms, namely: Assertive speech forms, Directive speech forms, Commissive speech forms, Expressive speech forms, and Declarative speech forms. Furthermore, there are also functions of using slang, namely: Emotive function, Conative function, Referential function, Poetic function, Phatic function, and Metalingual function." Apart from form and function, this research also contains seven types of meaning, namely: Conceptual Meaning, Connotative Meaning, Social Meaning, Affective Meaning, Reflected Meaning, Collocative Meaning, and Thematic Meaning.
