This thesis is entitled: ‘Error Analysis in Using English Passive Voice by the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA N 7 Kota Kupang in Academic Year 2022/2023’. The problems of the study are: (1) What are the errors committed by eleventh grade students of SMA N 7 Kota Kupang in academic year 2022/2023 in using English passive voice? (2) What are possible causes of the errors committed by eleventh grade students of SMA N 7 Kota Kupang in academic year 2022/2023 in using English passive voice? The objectives of this study are: (1) to identify the errors committed by eleventh grade students of SMA N 7 Kota Kupang in academic year 2022/2023 in using English passive voice, (2) to describe the errors and causes of errors committed by eleventh grade students of SMA N 7 Kota Kupang in academic year 2022/2023 in using English passive voice. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The field research was conducted in SMA N 7 Kota Kupang in November 2022. The population of this research was 296 students of eleventh grade of SMA N 7 Kota Kupang. The researcher selected 15% of 296 students as the population and the sample was 44 students. The instruments used was a test wich consisted of 30 items and interview. The writer analyzed the data by using some thecniques such as counting, identifying, classifying and describing. The result shows that there were four types of errors committed by the students in using passive voice. They are omission error with its total of errors was 777 and its percentage was 44%, misinformation error with its total of errors was 670 and its percentage was 38%, misordering error with its total of errors was 203 and its percentage was 11%, and addition error with its total of errors was 133 and its percentage was 7%. Hence, the type of error mostly committed by the students was omission error with its total was 777 errors and its percentage was 44%. There are three causes of errors committed by eleventh grade students of SMA N 7 kota Kupang in using passive voice, such as: poor knowledge of passive voice, lack of practice and mother tongue influence.
