There are two problems that going to be discussed in this thesis, those are (1) What are the speaking problems faced by the fourth semester students in English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University? (2) What are the strategies employed by the fourth semester students in English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University in overcoming speaking problems? The aims of this research are to find out the problems faced by the fourth semester students in speaking problems in English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University, to know the strategies used by the fourth semester students in overcoming speaking problems in English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University. This research used qualitative descriptive method. The subject of this research was students in the fourth semester students in English study program. This research used observation and interview to collect the data and to answer the research question. The result of this study showed that the problems faced by the students in learning speaking were vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, anxiety, and shyness. It means that there are two problems faced in this research. They were linguistics problems and psychological problems. Furthermore, the result of this study also revealed the strategies used by the students to cope with the problem. Their strategy are they practicing speaking English with their friends, taking notes, watching English movie, buildings confidence when speaking English, listening English song or singing a song, learning through YouTube or Instagram/TikTok about English content, using Google translate, using online dictionary, learning more deeply about grammar, memorizing English word, repeating words when speaking English and imitating English words or sentences from English videos.
