<note>This study aims toknow whether the use of small group discussion can improve reading comprehension of seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Wuring in academic year 2022/2023. This research is an experimental research using small group discussion method. The sample of this study was the seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Wuring, totaling 45 students. Data was collected through tests consisting of pre-test and post-test. The results of this study indicate that the experiment conducted by the researcher on the students was able to influence reading comprehension by using small group discussion. The data were analyzed by computing the significance of the treatment of scores, and the significance of the treatment by using small discussion. The mean of scores between the control group and the experimental group in the pre test and post test was compared to determine the difference by using the t-test formula. The result shows the use of small group discussion can improve reading comprehension of seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Wuring, because based on the score of t-rasio obtained was 19 and the degree of freedom was 43 which was higher than 2,01669 of the t-table at the 5% level or P > 0.05 (5%) of significance. In this case null hypothesis (H0) was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted.
