This thesis is entitle the effect of Whatsapp online learning on students learning activities in English lesson at SMA negeri 1 Balauring. The subjects of this research were the English teacher and Students in three class at SMA Negeri 1 Balauring during Covid-19. The method used in this study is qualitative. In this research, the researcher interviewed the English teachers and gave a questionnaire to the students of SMAN 1 Balauring. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews and questionnaires. This research is to determine the effect of whatsapp online learning activities and to find out the online learning problems faced by students in learning English through WhatsApp media. The results of this, study shows that the use of WhatsApp media had a positive impact and negative impact of whatsapp media. The problem students of using WhatsApp were Internet limitations, students have difficulty accessing the internet because the network is slow and only available at certain points because they are far from network sources, and limitation of internet quota, No internet package is also an obstacle for students.
