<note>This study is about teaching listening skill. The definition of Listening is a complex problem solving skill and it is than just perception of the sounds. And then, listening skill is technique based on an understanding of what is heard. The sample was 34 students of the class VII A at SMP Kristen Wanukaka. The problem of this study are (1) how effective is the use of song in teaching listening skill? (2) what are the problems experienced by the students of SMP Kristen Wanukaka in listening ability? (3) what are the factors that cause the problems for the students in learning listening skill?. The aims of this study are (1) to find out whether it is effective when teaching listening skill using English songs (2) to investigate the effectiveness of using English songs in improving students listening class (3) to find out the reason or factors that causes the problems for the students in learning listening skill. This study is used classroom collaboration action with qualitative method. The instrument was collecting data using by English song test and interview. The writer used song text to fill out the missing words and related to audio. In the test, the writer found that the during teaching learning process, 55% students were more active and enjoying listening, and 45% students were not serious studying. The calculations were get from the student's scores were then classified based on the level of achievement. Using English songs as media helped students to enjoy listening material. As more details, English songs helped students earn more attention and improved students achievement.</note>
