<note>This thesis is entitled: ‘The Effectiveness of Picture Series in Teaching Narrative Text Writing to Second-Grade Students of SMAN 8 Kupang in The Academic Year 2022/2023'. The problem of the research is it effective to teach narrative text writing to second-grade students of SMAN 8 Kupang in the academic year 2022/2023 by using picture series? The aim of the research is to know whether it is effective to teach narrative text writing to second-grade students of SMAN 8 Kupang in the academic year 2022/2023 by using picture series. The method used was experimental design. The research was conducted in SMAN 8 Kupang. There were 256 students of second-grade of SMAN 8 Kupang as the population, and the sample was 32 students or 12% of 256 students as the population. The researcher selected one class as the sample and he used purposive sample technique. The instrument used was a test. The test was an essay test. The researcher analyzed the data by computing the significance of the treatment of scores, accounting the significance of the treatment by using picture series, counting the mean of scores between experimental group and control group during the pre-test and post-test. The pre-test and post-test were compared each other to determine the difference by using T-test formula. The result shows that picture series is effective to teach narrative text writing to second-grade students of SMAN 8 Kupang in the academic year 2022/2023. It is proved by the obtained score of t-ratio was 4 and the degree of freedom was 30. The score of t-ratio is higher than 2.04 of the t-table at the 5% level or P > 0.05 (5%) of significance, which alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. It means that using picture series is effective to teach narrative text writing to second-grade students of SMAN 8 Kupang in the academic year 2022/2023.
