The focus of this research is to find out the steps and meanings of Tetun Terik traditional marriage in Tulamalae village of west Atambua sub-district Belu Regency. The analysis the problem, the researched used Searle’s theory, speech act concept as the main theory. The research method that has been employed in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The collect the data, the researcher used their techniques, namely interview, recording by using mobile phone recorder and note taking. The data was transcribed in order to get written data and then translated from Tetun Terik language to English, After that, the writer analysed the steps and meanings of the traditional marriage. The result of this research showed that Tetun Terik traditional marriage has two steps, they are (1) Asking permission and (2) Giving or delivering dowry and has five meanings to illocution they are (1) Representative, (2) Commisive, (3) Declarative, (4) Directives, and (5), Expressive.
