<note>Senyawa  1-monolaurin  (2,3-dihydroxypropyl-dodecanoate)  telah  berhasil disintesis melalui jalur reaksi yang melibatkan penggunaan K2CO3 sebagai katalis dan gliserol terproteksi, yaitu 1,2-acetonida glycerol. Reaksi transesterifikasi antara etil laurat dan 1,2-acetonida glycerol dengan rasio mol 1:6 pada suhu 110ºC selama
24 jam dengan hadirnya katalis  K2CO3  (5% b/b) menghasilkan senyawa 1,2- acetonida-3-lauryl glycerol. Produk ini berupa cairan kental berwarna kuning dengan rendemen 58%. Reaksi deproteksi 1,2-acetonida-3-lauryl glycerol menggunakan amberlist dalam pelarut etanol, diikuti dengan tahap purifikasi melalui rekristalisasi menghasilkan produk 1-monolaurin (2,3-dihydroxyprpyl- dodecanoate) berupa padatan putih dengan rendemen sebesar 61%.
