This thesis is entitled: ‘A Study on Figurative Language in Selected Song Lyrics By Halsey’. The problems of this study are what are types of figurative language found in selected Halsey’s song lyrics and what are the meanings of figurative language that found in selected song lyrics of Halsey. The aims of this study are to identify the types of figurative language found in the selected song lyrics of Halsey and to analyze the meaning of figurative language that found in selected song lyrics of Halsey. The writer used descriptive qualitative method. The data resource were eleven songs by Halsey: Without me, Clementine, Nightmare, Haunting, Gasoline, Hurricane, Killing boys, Color, Walls could talk, The feelings, Bad at love and Hold me down. The writer used document analysis as the data collection technique. The data analysis techniques were identifying and describing. The result shows that there are eight types of thirteen types figurative language found in Halsey’s songs lyrics such as metaphor, hyperbole, personification, irony, simile, repetition, allegory, and onomatopoeia. The lyrics contain these figurative language have meaning.
