This thesis is entitled: “A study on Basasu’a ritual speech in Ngada regency”. The problems of this study are: (1) what are forms found inbasasu’aritual speech in Ngada, (2) what are types of meanings of forms in basa su’a ritual speech in Ngada regency. The aims of this study are: (1) to find out forms in basasu’a ritual speech in Ngada regency, (2) to describe types of meanings of forms in basasu’aritual speech in Ngada regency. The method used wasdescriptive qualitative method. The research was conducted in Were I village, Golewasubdistrict, Ngada regency. The dataresource are two informants who know about the ritual. The techniques of data collection are: interview, recording, and note taking. Procedures of the data analysis used in this research are transcribing, identifying and describing. The result shows that: (1) Basa Su’a ritual speech have forms of sentences and forms of symbols. (2) There are four types of meaning found in basa su’a ritual speech, namely: (a) Religious meaning, example, kami wi ti’i kaDewa zeta ne'e nitu zae (we wants to give food to the Supreme God and Ancestors). (b) Social meaning,example, raba miu wi dutu penga dulu, dai wi penga dhore (you ancestors bless our children until they grow up). (c) Magical meaning, example, Ngana kau ura zi’a, li’e seko kau segebu pedhu kau le benu. Ngana, kau ura zi’a, wiwi kau bale gaje rae (pig, give your good direction and your testicless should be abundant and bile should not deflate. Pig, give your direction, your liver should be good and smooth, so that everything runs smoothly), and (d) Law meaning example, nitu zale miu lao si ne’e banga, banga kazi buka kappa Ulu wima’e mu, kasa wi ma’e bana (all of ancestors, take all the bad luck on the family and let them take it away. There is no more sickness or disease in the family.)
