This thesis is about “DESCRIPTIVE ANALYSIS OF MANA LOLO BANDA TRADITIONAL SONG IN ROTENESE AS THE MIRROR OF ROTE CULTURE”. This study aims to describe the form and the meaning of Mana Lolo Banda traditional songs from Rote. The writer uses the theory of Frank (1972: 6-235) to analyze the forms of Mana Lolo Banda traditional song and the theory of Leech (1995: 60) to analyze the meanings of Mana Lolo Banda traditional song. The focus of this research is the form and meaning of Mana Lolo Banda song from Rotenese. The data in this research are forms and meanings obtained from the song lyric. The collective data were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative. The results of this research show that there are some forms found in Mana Lolo Banda song such as words (nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, articles, prepositions, conjuctions) and sentences. The kinds of nouns used in the lyrics of Mana Lolo Banda song are single nouns, for example, Mana Lolo Banda (Shepherd); The kinds of pronouns used in the lyrics of Mana Lolo Banda song is personal pronoun; The kinds of verbs used in the lyrics of Mana Lolo Banda song is action verb; There is on adjectives found in the lyrics of Mana Lolo Banda song there is Me’e (Joy); Kinds of function words used that reveal the forms of Mana Lolo Banda Song from Rotenese are articles, prepositions and conjunctions words. For example; articles: ia (a), preposition tungga (from), and conjunction ena (and). Meanwhile, the kinds of sentences found in the lyrics of Mana Lolo Banda song is a simple sentences. The meanings found in Mana Lolo Banda song such as lexical meaning, grammatical meaning, and cultural meaning.
