This study aims to identify the types of metaphors in the lyrics of the selected song “Conan Gray”, analyze their meaning based on denotative and connotative meaning, and find the most dominant metaphor in the lyrics of the selected song “Conan Gray”. The researcher has formulated three research questions in this study as follows; (1) What are the types of metaphor used in selected songs lyrics of “Conan Gray”? (2) What is the meaning of each metaphor in the lyrics of the song? (3) What is the most dominant metaphor found in selected songs lyrics of “Conan Gray”?. In conducting this research, the researcher uses the descriptive qualitative method. This research uses primary and secondary data. The primary data is taken from YouTube where Conan Gray uploads his songs. The four songs are “Heather’, “Astronomy”, “Checkmate”, and “Family Line” by Conan Gray. The secondary data are taken from a book “Metaphors We Live By” by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson published in 1980 as a source for information about metaphors. The researcher interprets the metaphors using the concept by Lakoff and Johnson who divided metaphor into three types; structural metaphor, orientational metaphor, and ontological metaphor. The result shows that all three types of metaphor are found in the selected song lyrics of “Conan Gray”, and the structural metaphor is the most dominant one with an appearance of more than 65%.
