This thesis is entitled: “An Analysis of Collocations Used in the Texts Written by Eighth Semester Students of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University”. This research was conducted to find out the collocations in the written texts by the eighth semester students of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University. It also analyzed the types of collocation that students commonly used, and also to know their strengths and weaknesses in writing a text. The research was conducted at English education study program, Nusa Cendana University. The data was collected through the written texts as the method of data collection. There were 38 people in eighth semester students who participated in this research. This research used a descriptive qualitative techniques and procedures. From the data collection, the research found that students of English Study Program were able to create texts using two types of collocations: lexical and grammatical. The research findings showed that students made a total of 75 lexical collocation and 106 grammatical collocations. The research brought some benefits not only to the students but also to their teacher. The students were aware of the importance of collocation in language learning and use. In conclusion, grammatical was dominantly collocations that the students used in the written texts.
