<note>This study aimed to describe the implementation of paired reading strategy in teaching reading and to describe how students’ response toward the implementation of paired reading strategy in teaching reading of SMA Negeri 9 Kupang. The subject of this research was an English teacher and tenth grader students (X IBB) consisting of 14 students. The students were taught narrative text material through paired reading as a learning method. The design of this research was descriptive qualitative research. The data were collected through observation, and interview. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion. The result of this research showed that the paired reading strategy used by the teacher to teach reading had several the strategy was good and effective to teach reading because it increased students’ confidence in reading English texts and built interaction between the students and the teacher during the teaching and learning process. The students also gave positive responses toward paired reading strategy. It means that using paired reading strategy can help students to improve students’ reading skill. The result of the students’ interview in the implementation of teaching reading by using paired reading was that gave positive responses
