<note>This thesis is entitled: ‘‘The Use of ABC Five Basic Game Technique in Improving the Vocabulary of Eighth Grade of SMPN 13 Kupang in the Academic Year 2022/2023’. The problem of the research is: can the use of the ABC five basic game technique improve the vocabulary of eighth-grade students of SMPN 13 Kupang in the academic year 2022/2023?. This to know whether the use of the ABC five basic game can improve the vocabulary of eighth grade students of SMPN 13 Kupang in the academic year 2022/2023. The method used was experimental method. The research was conducted in SMPN 13 Kupang in May, 2023. There were 178 students of eighth-grade of SMPN 13 Kupang as the population, and the sample was 36 students or 20% of 178 students as the population. The researcher used random sampling technique. This sample was divided into two groups, such as experimental group consists of 18 students and control group consists of 18 students. The instrument used to collect data was a test is multiple choice test consists of 30 items. In collecting the data, the researcher used pretest, treatment and post-test as the data collection procedures then followed by analyzing the data by using t-test formula. The result shows that using of ABC five basic game
technique can improve vocabulary of eighth-grade students of SMPN 13 Kupang in the academic year 2022/2023, because the result of the statistical calculation indicated that the value t-test 1,86 and the value of df (degree of freedom) 40 at the level of significance 5% was 1,70. It can be conclude that t-test was higher than t-table that is 1,86 > 1,70. Since t-test value is higher than the t-table value thus, the alternative
hypothesis (H1), is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. It means that the use of ABC five basic game technique can improve vocabulary of eighth-grade students of SMPN 13 Kupang in the academic year 2022/2023.</note>
