The problem of the study is what are types of speech act used in wedding ceremony of Dawan society in Tobu subdistrict, South Central Timor regency. This study aims to identify and to describe the types of speech act used in wedding ceremony of Dawan society in Tobu subdistrict, South Central Timor regency. The types of method used was descriptive qualitaitve method. The research was conducted in Tobu village, Tobu subdistrict, South Central Timor regency on July, 2022. The writer selected two informants as the data resource. The data were collected by using observation, interview, recording, and note taking. The data were analyzed by using identifying and describing techniques. The result shows that the writer found 52 speech or sentences in wedding ceremony of Dawan society in Tobu sub district, South Central Timor regency. Based on the 52 speech or sentences, there are two types of speech acts found in the wedding ceremony of Dawan society in Tobu Subdistrict, as follows: Locutionary acts and illocutionary acts. Locutionary acts consist of 42 utterances, for example: Au uko lele panin he aum he aem au pilu ma au bete (I come from the mountain across the fields to find out my cloths). Illocutionary acts consist of 40 utterances, for example: Kalu nmuin tein lasi sa tenab sa au ala siunba ma utaiba (If there is anything else, I invite you to tell me so I can consider it).
