There are two research problems : (1) What are the types of English teaching methods applied by the teacher at SMPN 1 ATAP NEFOTES? (2) What are the students' opinions about the teacher method of teaching English to the eighth-grade students of SMP NEGERI 1 ATAP NEFOTES? The type of research used is a qualitative research method, The data collection methods used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the research showed that the methods applied by English subject teachers were the grammartranslation method and reading method, which were used to hone students' ways of speaking through joint group discussions and continued with presentations and question-and-answer sessions between teachers and students, which result students' ways of speaking and made students practice pronunciation through reading texts in discussion groups. According to students, the method used by the teacher is fun and easy to understand.
