<note>This thesis is entitled: ‘An Analysis of Teachers’ Difficulties in teaching English as a Foreign Language at SMPN2 Kupang Timur’. The Problems of the study are: first, what are the difficulties faced by English teachers in teaching English as a Foreign Language at SMPN2 Kupang Timur and second, what strategies do teachers use to overcome the difficulties in teaching English as a Foreign Language at SMPN2 Kupang Timur. This study aims to identify the difficulties in teaching English as a foreign language committed by the English teachers at SMPN 2 Kupang Timur and to analyze the strategies used by the teachers in Teaching English as a Foreign Language at SMPN2 Kupang Timur. The method used was qualitative method. The subject of this study was two English teachers at SMPN2 Kupang Timur. The instrument used to collect the data was observation and interview. The result shows that: (1) there are five difficulties experienced by the English teachers while teaching English at SMPN2 Kupang Timur, such as: (a) The facilities, (b) The lack of parents support, (c) Lack of students motivation in learning English. (d) Students’ low level of competence. (e) Students’ lack of Willingness to learn. (2)There are strategy used by English teacher in teaching English as a foreign language at SMPN2 Kupang Timur, such as: (a) Teachers providing the learning media. (b) Teachers discuss with parents. (c) Using Games. (d) Problem-based leaning. (e) Task-based learning.
