<note>This study aims to know the level of eleventh graders of SMAN 4 Kupang in academic year 2022/2023 in formulating conditional sentences and to find out the difficulties in using conditional sentences encountered by eleventh graders of SMAN 4 Kupang in academic year 2022/2023. The research implemented quantitative-qualitative descriptive methods (mixed method). There were 36 students of the eleventh graders of SMA Negeri 4 Kupang in academic year 2022/2023 as the subjects of the research. The techniques used to collect data were test and interview. The quantitative data obtained from the result of the test was analyzed to know the students’ level in formulating conditional sentences. The result of the interview was used to get qualitative data to find out the difficulties in using conditional sentences. The result showed that the students’ level in formulating conditional sentence is classified as poor. It was proved by the fact that 5 students (17%) were classified as excellent category, 6 students (17%) were classified as good category and 25 students (69%) were classified as poor category. After knowing the level of eleventh graders students of SMAN 4 Kupang in academic year 2022/2023 in formulating conditional sentences based on the test, 25 students who were classified as poor were taken to be interviewed to know difficulties that were encountered by the students in using conditional sentences. The writer can know that the difficulties that were encountered by eleventh graders of SMAN 4 Kupang in academic year 2022/2023 were the difficulties in the use of tense, the lack of vocabulary and the difficulty in memorizing the formula.
