This thesis aimed to find out wheter the students who have good vocabulary mastery achieve speaking ability indicated by their final score and the speaking problems in speaking releated to vocabulary mastery faced by the fifth semester students of Nusa Cendana University in academic year 2023/2024. The fifth semester students, especially class B of English study program in Nusa Cendana University were chosen as the subject of this research. The method used in this research was qualitative descriptive method. The technique of data collection was a vocabulary test and speaking test scores. The results were described based on the student’s final score on vocabulary and speaking test. The results show that:1) the students who have good vocabulary mastery achieve good speaking ability. However, vocabulary is not the only factor of student’s weakness in speaking. 2) The speaking problem related to vocabulary mastery faced by fifth semester students of Nusa Cendana University in academic year 2023/2024 was difficulties in word pronunciation besides poor vocabulary.
