This study deals with slang as linguistic expressions used in daily conversation among members of Manggarai Raya Muslim Association in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. The aims of this study are to find out kinds of slang used by the Manggarai Raya Muslim Association members, to know the most slang word Manggarai Raya Muslim Association members’ often used and to find out the reason why members of Manggarai Raya Muslim Association use slang in daily conversation. The method used is a descriptive qualitative method. The source of the data is the informants who are the members of Manggarai Raya Muslim Association in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. The writer used observation, note-taking, interview and recording as the technique in obtaining the data. Based on the data analysis, the writer found the slang. They were Indonesian slang, English slang and Kupang slang. The reasons why they used slang in daily conversation were intimate communication, ease of social intercourse or relationship, to be brief and concise and to enrich the language. The writer concluded that the slangs (Indonesian slang, English slang and Kupang slang) can be found and used by Manggarai Raya Muslim Association members’ in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. Actually, they use slang to get along with people around them but only in informal situations such as talking to acquaintances who also speak slang to increase familiarity because slang is a seasonally unofficial and unstandardized social language.
