This thesis is entitled: ‘Difficulties in Using Vocabulary Faced by Third Semester Students of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University in Academic year 2023/2024’. This research focused on difficulties in using vocabulary and the strategies to solve the difficulties. The problems of the study are: first, what are the difficulties faced by third semester students of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University in using vocabulary. Second, how do third semester students of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University solve the difficulties while using vocabulary.This study aims at finding out the difficulties in using vocabulary by third semester students of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University in Academic year 2023/2024 and to identify how third semester students of English Study Program solve the difficulties in using vocabulary. The method used was descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this study were third semester students of English Study Program of Nusa Cendana University. The instruments of data collection were interview and questionnaire. The data were analyzed by identifying, analyzing and describing the technique. The result shows that the difficulties faced by the students were spelling, pronunciation, grammar, meaning, lack of vocabulary. The strategies applied were listening to music or watching video, taking notes, memorizing, sharing with friends and lecturer. Key words : Difficulties, Strategies, Students, Vocabulary
