<note>This study aims to determine the biochar characteristics of Siwalan Shell and biochar adsorption kinetics in adsorbing Manganese metal. This research uses the adsorption method while the biochar manufacturing uses the pyrolysis method. Its characteristics include FTIR, XRD, SEM-EDX, Cation Exchange Capacity, moisture content, ash content and determination of its surface area using methylene blue. Manganese reduction testing is measured using AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy). The results showed that biochar from siwalan shell can adsorb manganese metal which is characterized by reduced manganese at the time of adsorption of 0.0148 g / mg min-2 with an absorption percentage of 98.59%.
