<note>Terru Leo, Welhemina. 2021.”Critical Thinking and Argumentative Writing Competences of the Graduate English Department Students of Nusa Cendana University in academic year 2019/2020: A Correlational Study”.  Graduate English Study Program of Nusa Cendana Univrsity Kupang.  Supervisor: (1) Prof. Drs. Tans Feliks, M.Ed., Ph.D, as primary supervisor ; (2) Dr. Kolo Clemens, MAT as secondary supervisor. There are three purposes of this research: (1) To describe the students’ critical thinking skills in writing. (2) To describe the students’ critical thinking skills in writing an argumentative discourse. (3) To find out whether or not there is a correlation between critical thinking skills and argumentative writing together with advanced academic writing skills. The study employs a quantitative method i.e correlational study, and test is the main instrument used to collect data. There are two kinds of data: (1) Scores of students’ argumentative writing test. (2) scores of students’ advanced academic writing test. There are three variables of this research: (1) critical thinking (x1), (2) argumentative writing skills (x2), and (3) advanced academic writing (Y). The result shows that: 1) The students’ critical thinking skills categorized as “good” with average score 77; 2) The students’ argumentative writing skills are categorized as “good” with average score 78.25, 3) There is a moderate correlation between critical thinking and both argumentative writing (r) = 0.88 and advanced academic writing skills (r)= 0.62.</note>
