<note>This thesis is entitled: “Semiotic Analysis of Bu’a Hira ritual in Lamapaha Village, East Flores Regency”. The problems of the study are: first, what are symbols found in the process of Bu’a Hira ritual in Lamapaha Village, East Flores Regency. Second, what is the  meaning of those symbols in the process of Bu’a Hira ritual in Lamapaha Village, East Flores regency. This study aims to identify the symbols which are found in the process of Bu’a Hira ritual in Lamapaha Village, East Flores regency and to describe the meaning of those symbols in the process of Bu’a Hira ritual in Lamapaha Village, East Flores regency. The method used was descriptive qualitative method. This research was conducted in Lamapaha Village, East Flores regency on June, 2023. The writer selected two informants as the data resource. Some techniques used to collect data were observation, interview, note taking, and recording. The data were analyzed by using trancribing,  identifying and describing techniques. The result shows that there are 13 symbols found in in the process of Bu’a Hira ritual in Lamapaha Village, East Flores regency, they are: Tuak (traditional alcohol drink), tapo pereteng (coconut milk), warak kwokot (plate for harvets),  kbia (plate for ancestors), nuro (spoon for ancestors),  nowing (woven cloth for men), kwatek (woven cloth for women) , ikan (fish), sirih(betel), pinang (areca nut), kapur (lime), doi seneng (coins) , nepa nolan (harvest). Types of meaning found in those symbols are : (a) cultural meaning. For example, tuak (tradtional alcohol drink), warak kwokot (place to put harvest), kbia (place to put rice), nuro (spoon), sirih (betel), pinang (areca nut), and kapur (lime). They have cultural meaning because they symbolize a high appreciation in human interaction and to build a good communication with others in a cultural context. (b) connotative meaning. For example, tuak (tradtional alcohol drink), tapo pereteng (coconut milk), ikan (fish), doi seneng (coins), and nepa nolan (harvest). They have connotative meaning because they symbolize meaning of life, cleanliness, refreshment, restoration and gratitude. (c) social meaning. For example, kwatek (traditional cloth for women) and nowing (traditional cloth for men). They have social meaning because they symbolize a person’s economy status.
