This thesis explores the images and roles of Adonara women in two poetry books written by Bara Pattyradja, namely "Samudera Cinta Paus Ikan" and "Pacar Gelap Puisi". The focus of this research is on nine poems entitled “Adonara Sebuah Prolog”, “Adonara Tanah Mahar Gading Tapi Tak Pernah Lahirkan Gajah”, “Belis”, “ Pulang”, “Samudera Cinta Ikan Paus” , “Di Bawah Kibaran Rok Payungmu”, “Barek”, “Siti”, “Tuto”. The formulation of this research problem is: : (1) How is the image of Adonara women described in Bara Pattyradja's poetry collection? (2) How is the role of Adonara women reflected in the poetry collection? This research uses a qualitative descriptive data analysis approach to explore the meaning and context contained in the poems. Through this method, 32 data were identified and analyzed, of which 12 data were related to the image of women's roles, divided into psychological aspects, family social image, and community social image. Meanwhile, ten other data describe the role of Adonara women in a broader context. The results show the complexity of the character of Adonara women in Bara Pattyradja's poems. The image of women is not only limited to the psychological dimension, but also reflected in their roles in the family and society. This research provides a deep insight into the way Bara Pattyradja portrays and responds to the role of women, as well as relating it to the Adonara context. This understanding is expected to contribute to further understanding of gender representation in Indonesian literature. Keywords: Poem, Image, Role, Adonara Women.
