<note>The writer was interested to conduct this research to see the effectiveness of using chronological order in teaching reading of narrative text to twelfth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kupang in the academic year 2023/2024. The aim of this study is to know whether it is effective using chronological order in teaching reading of narrative text to twelfth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kupang in the academic year 2023/2024. Through this research the writer wants to apply the chronological order strategy or method to see the effectiveness in teaching reading of narrative text to twelfth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kupang in the academic year 2023/2024. In conducting this research the writer used experimental method by selecting two classes of the twelfth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kupang in academic year 2023/2024. The technique in choosing sample was purposive sampling and the class chosen were XII A as the experiment class and XII C as the control class. These classes were given pre-test and post-test. Before giving the post-test, the experimental class was treated by using the chronological order to see the effectiveness in teaching reading of narrative text. Based on the data obtained, the researcher counted score of pre-test and post-test based on the T-test analysis. The result shows that the statistical calculation indicated that the value of T-test was 8.84 and the value of df (degree of freedom) was 2.09. It can be concluded that T-test was higher that T-table where 8.84 > 2.09. Since T-test is higher than the T-table (df) value thus, the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. It means that the use of chronological order is effective in teaching reading of narrative text to twelfth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Kupang in the academic year 2023/2024.
