<note>This research discusses: (1) What is the level of reading comprehension of classXI 
students at SMA Negeri 4 Kupang? (2) How can the group discussion method improve students' reading comprehension? The aims of this research are: (1) To describe whether or not the use of the small group discussion method is effective in teaching reading to class XI students at SMA Negeri 4 Kupang. (2) To determine students' attitudes towards Small Group Discussions. The method used in this research is a descriptive method, this research was conducted on class XI students at SMAN 4 Kupang and the data was taken through interviews and observation. The findings of this research indicate that the Reading Comprehension Level of Class XI Students of  SMA Negeri 4 Kupang is; Literal Understanding, Inferential Understanding, Critical Understanding, Evaluative Understanding, Creative Understanding. How the Group Discussion Method Can Improve Students' Reading Comprehension is; By being active in group/class discussions, active participation, through collaborative learning, by being interactive with other students, being socially interactive will be explained below.
