<note>This thesis, entitled "An Analysis of Metaphor Translation at The Novel Six of Crows," investigates the translation of metaphors in Leigh Bardugo's novel "Six of Crows" into Indonesian by Rini Indardini. It aims to explore the strategies employed in rendering metaphors and the effectiveness of these strategies in maintaining the original meaning and imagery. The study is framed within Ullman's metaphor theory and Newmark's translation strategies, categorizing metaphors into four types: anthropomorphic, animal, concrete to abstract, and synesthetic. The study aims to identify the types of metaphors used in the novel and to analyze the translation strategies applied in the Indonesian version. The research instrument includes a detailed analysis of metaphorical expressions within 14 chapters of the novel, identifying a total of 184 metaphors. Data were collected using note-taking and sampling techniques, and analysis was conducted to determine the frequency and nature of different translation strategies. The findings reveal that the most common translation strategy was reproducing the same image in the target language, used 114 times, indicating a preference for preserving the original metaphorical imagery. Other strategies included using a standard target language image, translating metaphor by simile, converting metaphor to sense, and combining metaphor with sense. The study concludes that while maintaining original imagery is prevalent, cultural adaptation plays a crucial role in effective metaphor translation.
