This thesis is entitled A Study On Problems Of Pronunciation By The 2ndGrade Students at UPTD SMP Negeri 15 Kupang In The Academic Year2023/2024.The purpose of this study is to analyze the pronunciation problems,and the factors that caused the pronunciation problems faced by the 2nd gradestudents at SMP Negeri 5 Kupang. This study was done by using qualitativecontent analysis.The population of the second grade students was 160 consistingof 32 students for each class. The writer took 29 students out of the total numberof students to be the sample of this research. The data analysis revealed that therewere pronunciation problems faced by the 2nd grade students of SMP Negeri 15Kupang. The pronunciation problems are the English sound : [ɝ], [tʃ], [dʒ] (θ),[ŋ], and [æ].The factors that cause the pronunciation problems were InitialFamiliarization with Unfamiliar Sounds, Linguistic Influence, and Lack ofConfidence. Linguistic Influence was the dominant source of the pronunciationproblems of the students. Key words: Pronunciation, Problems,students
