<note>This research is entitled “A Semiotic Analysis of Traditional Tattoo of Elderly Women in Malaka Regency”. The research subject of this research is
traditional tattoos. This research was aimed at finding out the symbols of the traditional tattoo of elderly women in Malaka regency and the meanings of the traditional tattoo of women in Malaka regency. The researcher used qualitative methods to collect the data through picture taking, interviews, documentation and audio recordings from the qualified informants as the main source, in this research
the researcher selected three people as the informant who live in Hitimukvilage. The researcher used Peirce’s semiotics theory to answer the two main research questions. Furthermore, the researcher found that the traditional tattoos have itsown symbol and meaning. There are four types of tattoos: Tau Naran (Initial), MakerekFuan (Heart), Leu Kabuar (Circle), and Kakait (Motif).</note>
