This thesis is entitled: The Ability of Eleventh Grade Students of SMAN 4 Kupang in Academic Year 2023/2024 in Comprehending Listening Texts. This study aim to find out the level of ability of eleventh grade students of SMAN 4 Kupang in academic year 2022/2023 in comprehending listening texts, to identify the problems encountered by the students in comprehending listening texts and to describe the causes of those problems. The research that used was descriptive quantitativ method. The research was conducted in January 2024 in SMAN 4 Kupang. There were 228 students as the populas and she selected 31 students as the sample. The sample technique used was purposive supling technique. The instrument were multiple choice test. There were 40 number of multiple test and the interview. The result show the data were analyzed by using formulas that eleventh grade students of SMAN 4 Kupang in academic year 2023/2024 are able to comprehend listening texts because most of students got good level scores and the mean of their score was 70. There are some difficulties encountered by the students in comprehending listening text, such as : the teacher does not come to the class to teach how to learning English subject, the students always used electronic devices to access the translate on their tasks, the students were difficult in doing the task because they have to find out the material individual and there is no practice of listening. There are some offered solutions to overcome students difficulties, namely students should prioritize listening skill than other skills, students shoul practice listening skill by listening video or music, students shoul minimize distraction with electronic devices and students should reduce outside noise.
