<note>In designing an English lesson, several things such as the learners’ profile and the objectives of the study are an important part. The teacher must consider and decide the best way to orchestrate the lesson in terms of the method and media used to teach. In teaching young learners, those things should be carefully considered as well. This study aims to find out the types of nursery rhymes that can be easily received by young learners as teaching and learning media, the advantages and potential drawbacks of using nursery rhymes as vocabulary-teaching media implemented for young learners in Oebobo District, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method and the data was gathered through observation, interview, and note-taking. The findings reveal that: (1) the nursery rhymes type “Lullabies” and “Games of Fingers and Toes” are the easily received vocabulary-teaching media for young learners, (2) nursery rhymes can contribute high engagement and interest, can be an enjoyable activity for the young learners, can be a way to practice English pronunciation and practicing working with others, and finally (3) complex language and limited selection of nursery rhymes can be potential drawbacks as vocabulary-teaching media.
