<note>This study was an effort to answer the research questions: (1) How are the levels of interests in reading English texts for grade VIII students at SMPN 3 Kupang evaluated? (2) What dominates the level of student interest in reading expressed by class VIII H students at SMPN 3 Kupang? The aims of this study were: (1) To find out the results of the evaluation of students’ reading interest levels at SMPN 3 Kupang? (2) To find out the reading level that dominates the students’ reading interest? The method used in this study is the qualitative method. The data obtained is systematically arranged and then analyzed qualtitatively so that clarity can be obtained.  The data obtained were tabulated, described and clarified based on students’ levels of interest in reading.  Data were collected from observations, questionnaire and documentation. The results of data analysis showed that the scores of Assignments, Daily Tests, Mid-Term Test and Final Test  seemed to be on average below 50%  influenced by the low interest in reading by students.  It was difficult for students to understand the Assignments and Questions given when the evaluation was given. the factors that dominate the level of student reading interest were based on their responses. on strongly agreeing statements, affirmative statements, disagreeing statements, and strongly disagreeing statements.  where 30 students (97%) students strongly agreed that their interest in reading was to read printed books borrowed from the Library. To utilize library facilities in increasing students' reading interest. In addition, 61% of students agreed that the students could pass on the content of reading if the students immediately read the new book and the students got by reading carefully.
